Maria F Dasilva, 89, formerly of 1650 Douglas Ave. North Providence, RI died on Sunday September 13 at 5:34 a.m., at the home of her daughter in North Providence, R.I., surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzeheimer's Disease. She was born on March 29, 1931 in Brava, Cape Verde to the late Francisco DaSilva and the late Clara Pires. She immigrated to Rhode Island in 1968 in which she worked at Monet on Mineral Spring Ave. in Pawtucket (a popular jewelry manufacturer) in the 1980's—a job that she loved—and made many friends. She retired in 1990 when the company closed its doors. She loved to cook, clean, socialize with friends and take care of her grandkids. She was a beloved member of the Cape-Verdean community, as well as everyone that she came into contact with. She is survived two brothers Paolu in Brava, Cape Verde, and Ezakiel of Portugal, a sister Vera in Georgia. Her son John Almeida and daughter-in law Lucia Almeida of Cumberland. Her daughter, Deolinda Silva of North Providence. Her three grandkids, Orlando, Emma and Michael, and her three great grandkids Emmett, Owen and Vincent and several nieces and nephews. A public funeral service will be held at Keefe Funeral Home located at five Higginson Ave. Lincoln, RI on Friday the 18th of September 2020 between the hours of 9 a.m.-11a.m, followed by a church service at St. Mary's Church 103 Pine Street Pawtucket, RI at 11:30 a.m.. Her final resting place will be at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence. At this time, the family has reserved that the funeral to remain private.
